Supervisory Skills
Who should attend
First-line managers and working supervisors or team leaders who need to acquire the skills and confidence to rise to the challenges of their role.
Course Overview
Achieving high levels of commitment and motivation from front line staff as well as meeting the needs of your customers and your managers at the same time is pivotal if the business is to achieve success.
It can be particularly difficult for those in supervisory positions to bridge the gap between ‘doing’ and ‘supervising’ successfully, whilst at the same time being regarded by their staff as part of Management.
The focus of this training is to help you establish and enhance your credibility as a supervisor, empowering employees to become more productive and effective and to have a greater degree of commitment.
A great supervisor is one leading the team through communication, motivation and delegation techniques as well as coping with problems. These four skill areas are the foundation of good interpersonal management development.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- explain the expectations and boundaries when working as a supervisor
- tailor a leadership style that fits with the needs of the team
- communicate with increased confidence for a variety of purposes
- deal effectively with performance problems and conduct issues
- give on the job instruction and constructive feedback to team members
Once you know how to engage employees, you’ll feel a weight lift off your shoulders and be able to motivate and inspire team commitment.
