Accesibility

The team are committed to supporting and providing an inclusive environment by accomodating requests for accessibility assitance for your event.

Accessibility Information

If you are tasked with selecting a function room, you may be aware that 18% of the UK population of working age has a disability. These people wish to attend conferences without being disadvantaged because the venue could not meet their needs.

Making everyone welcome and comfortable at our Conference Centre in Edinburgh, regardless of what disability they might have is key. We continually work to accommodate everyone’s needs and provide a friendly, inclusive and accessible environment for all.

Our staff are dedicated to supporting your event, working hard to consider the needs of all our guests. This includes those who might be visually, hearing or mobility impaired. Feel free to discuss your disability requirements with us. We’ll do everything we can to make your event a success, our mantra is “If we Can we Will”.

Lifts & Getting around the Centre

An electric wheelchair lift on a half flight of stairs gives access to reception – maximum weight capacity is 300kg. From there the elevator provides easy access to every floor.

The staircase between all floors has a handrail on the left side and provides large landing areas.

There is no fixed seating at the Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue. Therefore,  wheelchair spaces can be positioned anywhere in the meeting rooms.

Entering the Centre

The building is located on St Mary’s Street, accessible from street level via recessed double glass security doors. Our team will be there to greet everybody at the start of your event. Just let us know if anybody will be arriving during your event and we will make sure we are prepared. Phone us at any time and one of the team will be there to assist, the phone number is clearly displayed at the front door.

Toilets

The lift provides access to all floors in the building, including the accessible toilet on the third floor. The disabled toilet has both vertical and horizontal handrails, an emergency pull-cord. The taps and hand driers are accessible from a seated position.

Audio Loops

Induction loops are available in all meeting and conference rooms of the Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue ideally. Moreover, this service is included in the cost of all bookings and no additional charge will be made.

Guide Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome and a doggie bowl is provided. A member of the team would be delighted to walk the dog, if required.

Text Phones

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide text phones for the hard of hearing or deaf. However, we are looking at providing this facility in the future.

Future Plans

We are continually planning and reviewing our accessibility provision to ensure the venue works for people with disabilities. So please let us have your comments and thoughts to help shape our plans.

Parking

If you are a blue badge holder, you are allowed to park on the single yellow line directly outside the Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue. Provided that you do not park within the time restrictions displayed.

If you have a Blue Disabled Badge you can park in the bays at the top of St Mary’s Street. There will be no charge, however, these bays are in high demand. For more information about where blue badge holders can park, read more on the City of Edinburgh Council page.

Alternatively you can drop off people right at our front door. From here they users can gain access to the whole building. This is unusual for a listed building in Edinburgh Old Town.

The NCP car park on St John’s Hill provides all Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue delegates with a discounted parking rate.

If you are looking to drop off training materials or equipment, we have a side goods entrance in Boyd’s Entry. Just give us a call, we can explain exactly where it is and have one our team ready to help you unload.
